Howdy! "Lost Cowboy Ranch" is a public outfit that opened in April, 2005.
We are dedicated to promoting the "Cowboy Way in Thunder Bay".
We cater to folks that want to have fun adventures, learn more and that prefer rustic over fancy in a more private atmosphere.
We are open year round and offer customized trail riding, day rides, pony rides, riding/driving lessons, training, layovers, horse boarding and leasing, trailering, buggy service, cowboying activities and outfitting.

We are located in the majestic logging/mining country of northwestern Ontario, surrounded by lakes, rivers and rugged old mountains.
Thunder Bay is a half hour north of the Minnesota, USA border and seven hours east of the Manitoba provincial border.
The ranch is 15 miles west of Thunder Bay in the Kakabeka Falls/Stanley area.
We border on crown land in one of the last frontiers and have many interesting trails to explore.
SERVICE DETAILS:
Trail Riding is $25/hr. to $30/hr. for the first hour and $20/hr. for additional hours. We also offer day rides for $100/person. All rides include instruction so you are able to comfortably and safely control your own horse and have more fun. The pace of the ride is based on the ability of the least experienced rider in the group. We currently take only 1 to 4 people on a ride.
Pony Rides are $20/pony/hr.. More than one rider per pony is allowed.
We also do pony (or horse) rides at any location. (basic rate is $150)
Horseback Outfitting: is $100/day for day rides or packing in/out for nature viewing, photography, hunting, fishing, etc. Primitive ranch base camp available at no extra charge. We can also trailer the horses to a location of your choice.
Layovers: Overnight horse board is $20/day and you are welcome to pitch a tent and/or ride along with us.
Private Riding or Driving Lessons are $30/hr. (discount for longer lessons) and are customized to your ability and interests. As long as you have the desire to learn we can teach skills that will enable you to understand horses better, get involved or improve in any horsemanship area or discipline. Driving lessons can range from harnessing and ground driving to hitch driving for work or pleasure.
Horse Leasing is $150/mo. for unlimited riding as long as you book ahead of time. We can supply tack and you must first prove your horsemanship ability.
Horse Boarding is $175/mo. and includes tie stall, 4 winter & 3 summer feedings/day, daily pasture turnout, easy access to nice trails, some service discounts and riding/handling tips. Please call for outdoor board options.
Horse Training is $550/mo. or $20/day and includes board. We train for halter breaking, under saddle or in harness and work with everything from foals to spoiled horses. We use "natural horsemanship" methods that gain trust and respect.
Buggy Rides are with a 2 seater (holds up to 6 adults), western style, natural finish surrey. We do rides at the ranch for $10/person/hr. and special occasion rides at your chosen location for $200/hr. for 1st hr. and $100/hr. after that.
Cowboying Activities start at $10/hr. Learn about herding, roping, ranch life, rodeo, etc., on and off the ranch, through individual or group demonstrations, lessons, mini-clinics, etc. Let us know what you're interested in and we'll try to put something together for you. (limited availability)
Trailering is $70/hr. with a 20' livestock trailer that holds 4 - 6 horses. Price may be negotiable depending on circumstances and location.
